We haven’t really made anymore progress in our cure, but it’s still been a busy month. We managed to find a great Christmas tree (the kind we won’t have to replace for a few years) and broke out all the decorations that have been in storage for a couple of years. I think it a lovely setting for our gifts. We had a wonderful year and, as the Mr says, we made out like bandits.

Unfortunately, we had a bit of a family emergency on the 12th. The Mr was installing some overhead lighting in our garage. A few minutes later, he walked upstairs and asked me, “Honey, do we have any sutures?”
Not what you want to hear on a Saturday morning when you’re still in your pjs. Or ever, actually.
He’d cut the back of his hand and, as it turns out, the extensor tendon for his middle finger. After 3 1/2 hours in the ER, two face masks and one crazy lady moaning for painkillers (or, alternately, for the good Lord to call her home) we had the Mr stitched up. And a recommendation for a hand surgeon to repair the severed tendon. And a nifty suture kit.

We hit Mickey D’s for dinner (at the Mr’s request) and that’s how we spent Saturday.
Sunday, the orthopedist’s office was closed, but LensCrafters was open and they just happened to have back-to-back openings for this husband and wife team to get new perscriptions.
Monday, was spent visiting the hand surgeon for a consult, anew splint and a script for post-op painkillers.
Tuesday brought us the wonderfully successful surgery.
Wednesday, we brought in pest control to hunt down the rats that have infiltrated our sub-basement and are currently reenacting Manifest Destiny between our walls. But that’s a whole other post.
